Behind the Brand

Hey there. I’m Lisa M, the creative mind behind Sage Creek Clothing & Décor. Welcome!

Ever since I can remember, I have always gravitated to the boho style and all things Zen. A child of the ’60s, I couldn’t help but be influenced by the hippie movement. Then my parents started traveling and moving to other countries. Through them, I was first introduced to the vibrant colors of African art, in their incredible textiles, wood sculptures, and exquisite beadwork. My parents moved to Portugal where I was drawn to the beautiful hand-painted Azulejo tiles and the charm of their small winding streets and old architecture. As a child, I grew up on the east coast so I always had a love of the ocean but my parents were adventurers, so when I hit my 20s they set sail and traveled the seas. My dad, a sailor to his core, gifted me an undying love for the allure of sailboats out at sea and the aesthetics of a marina at sunset. Eventually, I married a Jamaican man and started a family. My style continued to evolve with each ethnic influence. My creativity was awakened and I found a career in graphic design as well as a passion for photography.

Having an eclectic style meant finding items to wear was challenging in mainstream retail. It was a little easier to find things to decorate my home with. So, after years of being a professional graphic designer, designing for others, I decided to use my talent to create unique and quirky products that I could love. And share.

As a budding entrepreneur, I researched the best way to produce products with eclectic designs. The fashion & retail industry has evolved quite a lot since I began my career. With the increase in drop shipping, you can find just about anything. However, I found it frustrating when I’d realize something I bought was a drop shipping product. That meant it was usually coming from China and would take weeks to months if not more, to get to me. That’s when I stumbled upon print-on-demand.

Over the past decade, print-on-demand has become increasingly popular. Unlike drop shipping, print-on-demand products are produced locally, shortening the time it takes to receive the product. They are one-of-a-kind products, designed personally, versus mass-produced. Print-on-demand also has had unexpected benefits. A serious problem in the fashion and retail industry is overproduction leading to staggering pollution. Print-on-demand provides an effective solution to that problem. With print-on-demand, there is no need to stock shelves, keep inventory, or buy in bulk. Each order is printed specifically for that order. While it’s not a cure-all to our pollution crisis, print-on-demand has proven to be an eco-conscious way of creating fashion. If you’d like to learn more about how print-on-demand is revolutionizing the fashion industry, please don’t hesitate to send us an email and request our print-on-demand whitepaper.

It is my hope you enjoy these products and designs as much as I do. Feel free to get in touch and let us know what you think of the shop.
